I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with an unshakable level of admiration and respect for our nation’s emergency first responders.
Over the last 4 years I have earned the trust and respect of numerous police officers, firefighters, EMS personnel and dispatchers by offering confidential, empathetic, and candid counsel during their most troubling times. I’ve been called upon to provide clinical oversight and support during several critical incident debriefings and have assisted with developing and improving departmental peer support programs. I also spent close to 10 years as a volunteer victim advocate with my local police department; an experience that taught me a great deal about how working an emergency scene can impact the mental and emotional well-being of those who show up to help.
My studies have included specific emphasis in crisis and trauma counseling; I have also completed and regularly attend a variety of professional development and continuing education courses related to emergency first responder cultural competence.
I hold a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University (Columbia, MD) and a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Religious Studies from Regis University (Denver, CO).
